Here is some information women commonly want to know about SEASONIQUE™. Use this
information as a resource when talking with your patients. You may also direct
your patients to the consumer information
on this Web site.
-
Fewer Periods Are Possible
The Pill works by preventing ovulation. Because her ovaries don't release an
egg, the lining of her uterus doesn't build up, and she doesn't get a menstrual
period. Instead, she gets a "Pill" period that happens when she stops taking
the active birth control pills. Because women taking the Pill are not
ovulating, there's no need to get a period every month.
-
Efficacy and Tolerability
When taken as directed, SEASONIQUE™ is more than 99% effective in preventing
pregnancy. A small percentage of women in the SEASONIQUE™ clinical trial
reported nuisance side effects, such as headache, breast tenderness, and
nausea. Other side effects included bleeding and spotting between periods,
heavy periods (menorrhagia), weight gain, and acne.

Easy-to-Use Pill Pack
The SEASONIQUE™ pill pack is designed to make it easy for patients to take
their daily pill continuously for 3 months. It includes 84 days of light
blue-green active pills and 7 days of yellow low-dose estrogen pills. Patients
should get their scheduled period during the last week of the pack. Remind
patients to take every pill at the same time each day to help maximize
pregnancy protection and minimize spotting.

What to Expect
With SEASONIQUE™, a patient will get her period once every 3 months instead of
every month—4 times a year. She should have a light, short "Pill" period. In
the SEASONIQUE™ clinical trial, women reported that their periods lasted about 3 days.
Patients taking SEASONIQUE™ will be more likely to have
bleeding and spotting between periods. This can be slight to a flow like a
regular period and should decrease over time.
